ROSE FLOWERS
They have complex features, and as the consequence of its many controversial elements, such as being dramatic and elegant, delicate yet wild, fragile and savage, all at once. Creators and fashion lovers emotionally feel moved by this flamboyant flower. It isn’t surprising. This is why I thought it would be interesting to write about it.
My dressmaking, crafting, DIY journey started off mostly with projects evolving around flowers. I seem to have an everlasting admiration for them, as even after countless projects I still get thrilled and super happy when I find fabrics with rich, vivid, lush ample colours. And when I do, they immediately get me thinking of all the different shapes of rose sewing creations, rose making crafts, rose ribbons, and satin rose petals arranged in a blooming bouqet. If you are not fancy sewing then making paper roses are also very popular, the internet swamped by paper rose diy crafts you can follow and create a statement wall.
Flowers, roses in particular has such a paramount role in comparison to other designs amongst my handmade projects. I love creating them so much so that I even written about how I make pretty fabric roses for my sewing projects and embellishments in 3 simple ways.
Now, let’s take on 8 interesting facts about rose flowers and see how many ways we can be thankful for one of the most ancient plant and how it is part of our daily lives.
FLORAL ROSE IN FASHION
Roses are one of the most adored flowers and have been serving a rich source of inspiration for many. They are so popular for their beautiful, sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing style.
Since beginning of times roses fascinate with its beauty and been a great source as an expressiveness for artists, fashion designers, shoe makers, jewellery makers bringing along many AHA moments. Roses are the representation of polar opposites, therefore it has the ability to shape our perceptions in a tense, powerful way as a result of this. Considering it is delicate but passionate, can be grown in the wilderness but also may be cultivated, loving, caring but fierce.
Roses indistinguishably entwined with fashion. Quite frequently reoccurring motif for plenty of graceful, luxury themed appearances. Rose making craft requires a lots of time and patience ensuring rose sewing creations breathtaking end results.
Visionaries can play with the texture and also can be fuelled by the decadent vivid array of colours and decide of it is going to come alive as a print or a multi dimensional art wear to entice to our senses.

COSMETICS
Parfum makers rely on rose essence oils for a long time, however not only the cosmetic and beauty industry can benefit from the aroma of this beautiful flower. It is widely used in gourmet industry.
DINING
Dried rose hips are mostly appears in a form of a tea for its rich C Vitamin content, whilst cocktails are also usually spiced up with this cute little rose bud shaped fruit.
Rose petals are edible and during the soaking procedure rose water is created. Rose water is great for flavouring and mostly used in Asian cuisine, whereas in other parts of the world it is broadly utilised during jam and jelly making for an extra hint of its fragrant taste. But now…
‘STOP AND SMELL THE ROSES’
It made me giggle, when I came across the above saying.
Means relax and to try to stay in the moment for a bit and enjoy life for what is. Although, I can not agree with this quote enough, I have never knew an expression like this actually was in circulation as such before, however I do have an existing rose flower inspired fashion project named as “Smell the roses “ already! I am thinking this can not be coincidence!
No wonder why I pulled towards dedicate a whole article to Roses so much.
THE COLOR MATTERS
So what feelings roses evoke in us and what are they symbolise ?
Since each colour influence our brain and senses in a different way each and every roses affect us distinctively.
Red roses call up romantic vibes, love, passion, beauty, luxury and courage. Pink roses evoke the feeling of appreciation, grace and gentility, whilst white roses are the symbol of youthfulness, purity, innocence and sympathy. However if you opt for roses in orange you will stand for cheerfulness, friendliness and positivity.
ROSES FOR POSITIVE VIBRATION
Throughout times rose essence was used for its soothing, anti-inflammatory capacity. In ancient times healers believed roses and its essence can cure the heart. It was considered that rose flowers have the purest and highest positive vibrations of electromagnetic field, and so can directly affect the environment, how we relate to others and how we experience the world.
After leaning many great things about roses I would urge anyone to start wearing them in some shape of form, if you happen not to have a bit of free space for them in your garden.
Rose hand sewing and hand crafting techniques are varied however I am particularly happy, because many roses can be produced sustainably from scrap materials, leftover fabrics or recycled garments. We can use them in a shape of a brooch to spice up old wardrobe items, even embellish an entire outfit with lots of them. Whatever makes you exciting and your cheeks rosy, do it.
