For the love of colours

Colours are one of the most evocative elements of fashion. They are often the first detail people will notice about an outfit, they can communicate a personality, and even have the ability to change the impression and emotion of those around you. Colours were even shown to affect heart and respiration rates. Such studies of colour, known as colour psychology, have long been both established and applied to fashion, leading to many designs and trends occurring in popular culture.

Within my own work, colours are especially important and are a source of constant inspiration. They can summon images of nature and powerful emotions, which is something I try to focus on when creating and designing clothing. This is why I thought it would be interesting to share my experiences with colours, both as individual topics and as a whole, how they affect my creativity and how I experience them.

Majorelle Blue

Blue is by far one of the most inspiring colour. Blue is standing out due to its context in nature and its behaviour within the framework of dimensions and how already existing visual effects in our mind relatable to certain colours.

The French Painter grew his fascination towards the Mediterranean blue sky at an early age which ended up in creating his own hue in 1957, which is called International Klein Blue. Of course, he is not the only one who was inspired by the intensely pigmented ultramarine colour.

Years ago I visited one of most interesting building in beautiful Marrakech with its curated botanic garden Jardin Majorelle, a former home of Yves Saint-Laurent who fell in love with the unique Cubist design and the perfect harmony of colours on top with the dominating blue. Needles to say, since you are reading this post, I did as well!

The pompous villa in its grand blue design was originally dreamed and created by the French Artist, Jacques Majorelle. It took him over forty years to complete it, when he decided to repaint the villa in a blue shade he had been seeing around in Morocco, so then he developed his own pigment in 1937 which got its name after him Majorelle Blue. The kind of blue, which creates an aura of extravagance, grace and elegance around it.

Majorelle Blue is one of the most vibrant electrifying blue. It can also be called ultramarine or perhaps cobalt blue. Although blue can be associated sometimes with sadness, being a bit aloof and melancholic like Picasso’s paintings from his “blue-period” or when someone is feeling the blue, but not this one! On the contrary, this blue has a kick to it. It is crisp and fearlessly fresh, meanwhile there is something untouchable about the cosmic, impressionistic, idealistic and intellectual feeling it entices.

Blue is one of the most popular and often picked colours, companies love including this colour in their logo and headings as it creates an air of trust, calmness and tradition, but did you know it is perfect for loosing weight ?

It is said, blue is one of the least appetising colours to have around food, or to serve food on. Some of the weight loss programs even recommend eating your food off of a blue plate. For the humans eyes it is often associated with poisonous food to avoid, since only a handful of fruits has natural blue colourings.
