CANDY CRUSH JUMPER DIY
Colourful metallic parlour candies scattered around on a jumper - inspired by winter Holidays. No Christmas trees without these beautifully wrapped typical little shiny Christmas parlour candies would anywhere near be complete in Hungary.
According to the tradition Hungarians hang chocolate candies on Christmas trees as part of the decorations.
They look like parlour candies, however they are mini bonbons, very typical and particular specialties only sold during Christmas. They are filled with different flavours topping with a chocolate cover. Each coloured foil symbolises a different taste you will find..like chocolate, fudge, fruit jelly, marzipan, strawberry creme, combination of walnut and rum chocolate cream. Yumm! Let’s celebrate them by wearing them.
The wrapping is more pivotal than the candy itself. The traditional candy was wrapped into shimmering aluminium foil which came in a wide array of colours, it was first wrapped in a white tissue paper with fringed ends and then a layer of shiny foil was added, however that has changed a bit to using only the colourful foil. Typical Christmas confectioneries are still the key elements of the preparation process regardless and the most important accessory of the Hungarian Christmas tree.
They are so pretty and lush to look at! Why would we limit ourselves looking at such lavishly wrapped candies purely for the Holidays season over the possibilities of having them around in the entire year ? ..besides it is always advisable to take some sweets with us in case our blood sugar level drops, we don’t want to loose our conscious and miss out for a bit, don’t we ?!
WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN SWEET & CANDY EMBELLISHED JUMPER

Metallic Lamé fabric in colours of your desired
Scissors
Thread & needle
Sewing Machine
Filling
INSTRUCTIONS
Plan A - in the name of sustainability why not just shop in your own wardrobe and pick a jumper you are bored with and spice it up/breath some life into!
Plan B: - Make your own jumper with the style you want.
I created a minimalistic styled sweater and let the colour itself and the candies take over the show. For the main fabric of the sweater I went for something very cosy, “well soft” material, which is the softest kind of fleece out there, well warm and well soft just as the name suggests :) For practical reason it is better to use thicker fabrics so when candies attached they blend with the silhouette smoother on the surface of the fabric.
For the candies cut small metallic pieces from lame, 15*15 cm and 12* 16* in sizes and create multiple kind and shapes of parlour candies. For the filling, wrap up some fabric remnants or a pom pom to create the padded realistic shape.
First fix the end with thread and then to secure them also at the end with your sewing machines whilst attaching them to the fabric and scattering around on your jumper.

The shapes of each saloon candies can vary from round, long, square, traditional…can’t wait to hear if you have more ideas ?
You can also spice up your cushion and light up any living spaces. Place candies on one side of a pillow and start sewing them just as you would do with your jumper whilst leaving the other side plain, in that way you can literally “turn around” any room into a fun space with just ONE turn. Once you had some candies and want your calming decor back it only takes another second and a turn again.
