It’s launched - all about Dori

Welcome on my site & thank you for being here and reading the first post on Spice it up Dori’s website.

How it is all started. Might need to say it wasn’t about my love for spices particularly - although I do love experimenting with exotic dishes and trying out new seasonings, nor started with an unbreakable hope for Spice Girls’ reunion attempting to keep their legacy alive.

Years ago, I came across a stunning pair of sandals from a high-end fashion house. They were unbelievably beautiful, with decadent embellishments that made them stand out from other footwear. At the time I was dressed in minimal and monochrome clothing and the sandals complemented extremely well, bringing the outfit to life. Of course, they weren’t cheap, even with a kind discount. However, I couldn’t resist them.

This memory stays with me not because I was glad to have made the purchase but because I was disappointed. The sandals quickly turned out to be disappointingly uncomfortable. I was shocked. How could a product of such high brand and cost ultimately be of such mediocre comfort?

It was this moment that prompted me to consider the qualities that I truly valued in fashion, such as comfort, vibrance, sustainability, and affordability. Then, I asked myself, what is stopping me from creating such clothing myself?

From this moment the concept of spice up things, turn gloomy into bloomy, Spice It Up With Dori was born.

Many embellished heels, sliders, sneakers made up a big portion of my earlier DIY fashion projects not only I was extremely thrilled to make these, I could have made sure to pick the perfect comfy footwear as a base for the spice - up project on which then create my own design, au contraire staying in the constraints of a few styles and what the market has got on offer.

Spice It Up With Dori

If you are curious about the name, I understand! At the time of my encounter with the now infamous sandals, I was working in an office environment. It was uninspiring for both my spirit and my style. I consider myself an extremely happy and outgoing person, so to be restricted to plain and uniform outfits was very difficult for me! I wanted colour and expression; I wanted confidence and energy.

Additionally, working in London means that I was also surrounded by grey clouds (big fluffy grey clouds!) and by beguiling clothing. I could take only a short walk from the office and pass numerous people who were dressed in bold and creative designs; each street was full of inspiration! I could not be more in love with the energy of the streets of London and the dynamic it creates, and most importantly can not be more thankful for the gloomy days. Fresh cool London weather made me seek for inspirational ideas to warm up the air between two sunny spells and turn gloomy into bloomy.

I knew from the very beginning that I wanted to create clothing that made others smile, that brought the same wonder to those walking by. And, since many of my projects seek to transform pre-existing materials and clothing into something totally new and exciting, I decided to Spice It Up With Dori!
