It is one of a kind unusual clothing DIY fashion, mixed with metallic fringe that we all have laying around somewhere in boxes after Birthdays or Garden Parties stored, well don’t let them being caged in, take them out and use them. Letting the reinbow fringes out of the dark would serve you more!
One of my most popular item amongst my DIY fashion projects is the Metallic Fringe Jacket that led me to think everybody needs a little more happiness. We need bright, bold, merry outfits and more and more seek for cheerful fun clothes, especially in the midst of shorter days and overall to make days specials after long quarantine times.

Tinsel are perfect fashion items to be recycled into a sustainable fashion project and be an additional eco piece to your closet. Are you into creating an eco wardrobe ? Well, this could be one of them, you don’t have to wear brown or grey to be ethical, you can simply reuse what’s already in circulation. These tinsel are already manufactured and sold so make good use of them! Never throw them away instead of cycle them back into life in a form of an extravagant, extremely happy and uplifting joyful fashion accessory or home decor.

MATERIALS YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR SHIMMERING METALLIC TINSEL HANDBAG DIY:
9” x 17” rectangular shaped thicker fabric where the tinsel will be sewn on as outer layer
9” x 17” rectangular shaped thinner inner layer fabric as lining
tinsels in many colors, you can make it one color or go for pastel shades

sewing machine
2 x bag hoops
bag handles
Get your outer layer and start chopping off chunks of tinsels with your tinsels and start sewing them up onto your handbag all the way till it looks rich and thick and fully decorated with tinsels. Rainbow metallic fringes are my most favourite but of course it can be also very pretty in rose gold or silver :)
Get your lining and close off the material with your interlock, then sew the two sides together with face down whilst leaving a few inches free, this is where you going to turn your bag inside out later.
Insert your handbag lining into your handbag like good sides are facing with each other and start securing together along the hem with needles to make sure when you sewing it won’t slide away or twist. The pull your lining out and slide your hand in the whole which you left opened and gently start pulling through your handbag and turning the inside out.
Thread a needle and as on the picture after adjusting the fabrics nicely on top of each other and making sure the edges are hidden and start stitching them together. One it is done all you need is to attach the two hoops to your handbag, which is the easiest way to add the bag hoops.
Add the bag chain chain chain and you now have an extremely eccentric, very colorful and shiny metallic fringe handbag! How amazing it looks right ? It lit up any room, any dance floor and can spice up any outfit.
Especially loving the combination of the delicate shimmering tinsels with a chunky handbag chain. I thought it would be such a great touch to add some masculinity with a thick acrylic chain bag handle. Let me know which color combination you went for ? Aren’t tinsels are just simply great?
