WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR OWN BELT BAGS - HEART BELT BAG, LIPS BELT BAG, ALPHABET BELT BAGS DIY

  • 5 glitter felt sheets in silver, yellow, turquoise, berry and red colour

  • 5 key rings, size depending on the belt you will use it on, I used 30 mm wide ones

  • chain belt or any belts

  • scissors

  • velcro tapes 30 cm long (cut it up into 5 pieces = 4cm each)

  • sewing machine

  • super glue

INSTRUCTION

1.Cut 2 pieces out of each pattern you designed from your glitter felt. Make sure they are relatively enlarged, so they can hold a phone, bank cards, keys etc..the dimensions I have used: heart 15 * 16 cm, lips 14 * 24 cm, letters around 15 cm in height and 9 cm in width.

2.Cut 5 small longer strip of glitter felt fabric to each of the mini bags which will be the hook for the key ring.

3.Design where your bag opening should be, mark them to mirror and glue the velcro tape to each sides of the bags.

4.Start sewing the two pieces together, make sure you include the little hook as you are sewing along. Keep those parts untouched where the tapes are placed.

5.Add the key rings and customise your waist belt or chain belt.

I always think of what can be done out of leftover materials, small pieces of scrap fabric and learn ways how to repurpose the stuff I already own. If going to second hand store and thrifting used materials isn’t your thing then shop your own closet, alternatively you can buy leftover fabrics deemed too small by others to make a whole project out of it. The fun part is, whatever you make is going to turn out just the way you dreamed of, which is going to increase the chance of wearing it on a long term. This is one of the basic pillars of sustainable fashion.
