I had plenty felt left from another project in amazing, fizzy, happy colours and I was so wanted to create something out of them. Since the thick felt seems quite sturdy I figured they (the felt) quite literally felt perfect for making clutch bags. I needed the project to come out as colourful as much it is possible.
I felt thrilled when I came up with the idea! The Artist Palette Shaped Bag! Its surface will surely have enough room to add the details and it still be practical enough to hold as much “stuff” as an envelope handbag. Knowing that felt can be glued turn HOW TO MAKE A PAINTER’S PALETTE BAG DIY extremely easy and suitable for any beginner crafter. I did however fixed the edges with my sewing machine which is optional.
How FUN and unique this looks. It creates a vibe around it and the wearer. You can definitely spice up any rainy days with this clutch and promote some positivity with a motto on it, if you like?
SUPPLIES to make your own artist palette handbag:
3 mm thick felt fabric
1 mm thick felt fabric in 11 different colours
Brushes - 1 or 2 for the decor
Scissors
Felt glue or Sewing Machine
Instructions:
Cut out two pieces of artist palette from the thick felt, mine is 30cm in its widest and 20cm tall.
In both palette cut an oval shaped hole for the handle
To strengthen and thicken the fabric cut out two circular shape in the same size & shape as the “handle” with an edge to it, these will thickens and support the hole around the handle through days of usage
Cut out all the colours. I cut them circa 1,5 “ in size.
Glue the inner layer of the handle to the handbag from the inside, then glue the colours and the brushes to the palette.
Glue the two sides together keeping the top bit open for about 15 cm section where the velcro needs to be glued/sewed, make sure the two sides of the tape glued to each of the palette and its secure.
